How to Transition from Day to Night (for Valentine's Day)

Since Valentines Day falls on a Thursday it is highly likely that you will find yourself transitioning from the office to dinner with little to no time in between. So today’s post is all about transition looks from day to night (without a full wardrobe change). #NoTimeForThat

I will admit I’ve been feeling a little edgy lately and so all my looks are red and black and BOLD – usually with an edgy twist. The ideas apply to any outfit though .. glam up your accessories, maybe show a little more skin … transition perfected.

Boardroom to Banquet

This is an easy look takes you from suit to sultry with just a few accessory changes. The day look is a traditional corporate formal look. You can leave the jacket at home if you only need business casual (but still button up that blouse)!!

The basics for the look are a suit jacket, silk blouse and a lovely red skirt. I went for booties with a little edge because that is my thing but a classic pump works just as well. Keep your earrings simple (diamond studs for me) and a classic black tote. #WorkDayDone

*Most of the pieces I selected above are investment pieces. As an alternative here is knit jacket from Anthropologie and a blouse and skirt from Brook Brothers and that will create a very similar look.

When you head out for the evening, unbutton the blouse and add a fun purse and earrings. If the climate allows switch out your booties for some strappy heels or a cool pump. No bathroom changing required and everything you need can fit in that structured bag you leave in the car.
