Today’s #shoesday post is special. Technically it’s special for two reasons. First, I’ve added a video. Be nice. This is a work in progress. Remember I do business development, not IT. I wanted you to be able to see the shoes three-dimensionally though … let me know if you like it!! Second, it’s Election Day. Your voice is heard today by expressing it at the polls and your voice matters. Go Vote #StillNotClear #GoVote
Now about those beautiful boots …
I often get questions about Tall Boots. Have they had their day? No, but you do need to modernize the look. The riding style tall boot is currently on the outs, what you see currently is either sleek or slouchy with nothing in between. I still have my riding style brown boots but I have put them in the attic for a bit (their time will come again). Since doing that, I’ve been on the hunt for a good tall brown boot. I have black covered in all styles and manners but the brown had been evading me. #SearchOver
These boots are from the Something Navy collection at Nordstrom and they come in both brown and black. The cut is perfect for the modern silhouette as is the heel. Not too high, not too low, and a unique block heel with a nod to current trends but not too much as they will be passé in a year. The color is a deep chocolate brown (so much so that is was hard to photograph). #Apologies
Tall Boots at the Office
I find this style of boot works best with dresses. You could get away with a suit in a pinch but that isn’t really their function. If you need to wear these to the boardroom, think dress. I opted for a mostly fitted dress with a unique asymmetrical and ruffled hemline. You could also wear a wrap dress (I find it’s a great way to get one more season from my beloved wrap dresses). My dress is an older Akris Punto but this DVF beauty is almost a dead ringer.

Business Casual Tall Boots
These beauties are made for business casual. I chose a pencil skirt paired with the cream sweater from last week. Skirts and tall boots are a match made in heaven though. Try a midi skirt or A-line skirt if you are looking for a more relaxed look.

And the most important accessory of the day … proof I did my civic duty. I am actually currently traveling so I early voted last week. #NoExcuses
Tall Boots for Play
There is no point in having boots if they can’t go play too. Here I opted for my weekend uniform, a turtleneck and denim. This slouchy striped turtleneck from J.Crew pairs perfectly with these Madewell skinnies. Add beautiful boots and done. #WeekendUniformUpgraded
