This post has been a long time coming. Kate (from Haute Navy) and I concocted the idea for another joint post after the fun of the giveaway we did together last year. This time we wanted to find a piece to style that not only worked with out totally different lifestyles (she’s a work from home mom on the go and I’m a 9 to 5 mom in a business formal world); but we also wanted a piece that worked for our very different bodies. I’m 5’8″ and Kate is 5’1. This was a task that was not as easy as it seems.
Here was one of the rejected pieces … this one works for neither tall nor petite. Don’t. Just don’t.
The Top
We chose this lovely striped, faux-wrap top for its fit and versatility. But let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good stripe? It’s also currently on sale as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which runs through August 5th. And who doesn’t love a good sale?
So that brings us today’s post … I really wanted to call it “one shirt for the tall and small”. And while it rhymes and flows, its just didn’t quite convey what we were trying to do. Kate came up with the more appropriate wording …the long and short of it. So I bring you the long … while Kate will bring you the short!
The Long of It for Work
I, of course, opted to style the shirt for the office! I chose these fun stripe pants (you can never wear too many stripes) because they are one of my favorite work pants. The high waist and stripes help add to the illusion of height and the contrasting stripes are the perfect pattern-matched pairing. You can still find my Rag and Bone stripe Simone in stores but I linked tons more options at all price points below and this year’s version has a cool new back yoke. And a similar pair of Simone pants are also included in the sale (they have lovely ankle ties instead of stripes). #GoodTrade
I, of course, also had to check the shirts ability to pair with a jacket. #winner
This is my trusty old LOFT blazer but I did find a good equivalent from 1901 that is part of the Anniversary sale!!
The Long of It For Weekend
I also wanted to pair the shirt with denim so you could really see its versatility.
I would wear this outfit to drink wine with the girls on a Friday night. (Which is what I was supposed to be doing this last Friday night but my early morning wake up for the divisional swim meet Saturday morning negated that fun). These STS Blue jeans are a part of the sale and a bargain at only $39 (although limited sizes). Even at their full price they are still a good deal (and fully stocked in sizes). My booties are old but I found tons of currently available options at the end of this post. I’ve been eyeing these VINCE ones though.
Not that you’ve seen the long of it … head over to Haute Navy to see Kate and the short of it. I promise, she won’t disappoint!
If you love any of the outfits be sure to grab the shirt while it is still in stock and on sale!
More Pinstripe Pants
My Simone pants get lots of wear so I don’t mind the investment but I’ve linked tons of options at all price points (including my beloved Simones). #RagAndBoneWin
White Booties
I bought my white booties during a Spring Sale for less than $50 because I wasn’t sure I would love the trend. Fast-forward six months and I wear them all the time. So much so that I’m on the hunt for a better pair! The magic eraser only goes so far to keeping those beauties white (mine are not real leather). Here are the ones I’ve been eyeing as candidates to replace mine! #OnTheHunt
