All week long I have been rounding up my best picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and today I bring you the Best Separates (Pants, Skirts and Tops). Tomorrow will be my last round up and will be a little potpourri of everything left. Tomorrow you will get accessories, undergarments, denim and maybe a sweater or two. I will tell you I have been less than motivated to shop for sweaters right now. I now the cold weather is coming – it’s just hard to embrace that idea when there is a puddle of sweat between your boobs. #SorryNotSorry
Okay, without further ado … the best of separates.
Pants
I’ve mentioned before I’m not a pants girl. I don’t known why I say this because I wear them. It’s kind of like saying I don’t eat chicken but then I find a chicken breast on my dinner plate. I guess in both cases it’s just not my preference. If you going to wear pants … let’s make them really good pants!!
Before the sale started, I went through the catalog and look book to pick pants. I picked two. TWO pairs of pants was all that were notable enough to note. TWO. I of course found a few more when I started shopping. #Happens
Halogen Slim Stretch – I bought last year’s version of these and wore them tons. Unfortunately, I forgot I sized up so this year’s order did not fit me. #oops It at one point came in at least five colors and is less than $59. The shoes I have paired with them are these Cole Haan Wedges.
Rag & Bone Simone – my favorite Rag & Bone pants have gotten a cute little ankle tie update. Adorable. My Simones do not have the adorable ankle ties but you can still see the fit. I size up in this cut. (And I would like it noted that I cleaned my mirror for you guys – but not my bedroom! #babysteps)
Rag & Bone Poppy Pinstripe – If the Simone’s seem to fitted or high waisted for your liking then try these instead.
I highlighted these Leith pants on like day one of the sale!! They are an unexpected gem. So adorable for their $42. I’ve already worn them to work and they will transition beautiful to cooler weather (just add a turtleneck and sock booties). Paired with the Chelsea28 Turtleneck.
These Vince Camuto pants where in my dressing room diaries paired with the matching blazer. This will be a good set for travel days or days when you haven’t exercised for a few weeks and you are feeling a little bloated as they are very stretchy and comfortable. I am wearing a 4 in the pants but will need to have them taken in slightly (I think a two would be too tight in the legs). There is also a coordinating skirt and Jacket. The turtleneck is Chelsea28 and the shoes are last season Jeffrey Cambpell – for a similar vibe try these.
Skirts
Okay, now we are talking!! If you missed the BOSS pencil skirts you can see those here. These are all the other fun and trendy skirts worth trying!! In order from least expensive to most.
Halogen Pleated Skirt – This is the same green floral one that you saw in the catalog but I love this abstract one so much more!! The material is soft and flowy and so gorgeous. This has a little DVF vibe without the DVF price tag that I’m a fan of. Paired with the Chelsea28 Turtleneck. in the first image and Anne Klein Shell in the middle image and my new Boss Jacket in the last. It also goes lovely with red!!
Halogen Tweed Skirt – so CoCo Chanel. Just add big black sunglasses and consider Monday covered. Paired with the Chelsea28 Turtleneck.
1901 Tulle Skirt – I really want to try this one. I think with a white button down I can make it work for the office.
Halogen Leather -I love a good leather skirt and I wear them to the office all the time. This comes in two colors but I’m loving the blush. Reviews say it runs small.
Tibi Skirt (and Top) – This set is the find of the sale and might be my top pick. I’ve shown the pair together previously but I wanted to highlight the versatility by showing the skirt and top styled separately. Here the skirt is paired with the Chelsea28 Turtleneck. (Scroll down to see the top styled separately).
Rebecca Taylor Leather Skirt – Full disclaimer this did not come home. But only because I already own basically the exact same skirt. I wear mine ALL the time!! Mine does not have the buttons which is why I had to try. I am wearing a 2 but would have preferred a 4 so I consider this TTS. The blouse paired with the skirt is also Rebecca Taylor. I loved it with both the pants and the skirt. The only reason it did not come home was because the dress in the same print did. Such a gorgeous floral print. Also comes in a skirt and I similar white print.
Blouses
Not counting the four silk blouses I already covered, this is another category where I found EXACTLY 10 blouses that I would wear. I also picked a couple of camisoles that are a good buy. And one turtleneck (along with my staple Majestic turtleneck that I always buy).
Tibi Skirt (and Top) – This set is the find of the sale and might be my top pick. I’ve shown it paired with matching skirt previously but I wanted to highlight the versatility by showing the skirt and top styled separately. Here the top is paired with Hoxton Paige Denim.
This is another piece I’ve talked about previously but it finally arrived (and we are back to the dirty mirror again). This Denim Topper has a coordinating dress and skirt which I also purchased.
The color of this theory top just seems to gorgeous to ignore. I have yet to see this one in person but it looks like it should be beautiful.
I have been stalking this Rebecca Taylor top waiting for it to restock in my size. #NoLuck If you find it in yours – grab it!!
Chelsea28 Smocked Neck Top – I highlighted this in my Dressing Room Diaries. I liked the top but I’m still struggling to figure out the sizing in each of the colors there seems to be some variability. There is a very similar Hinge version which comes in prints that I may need to try instead.
Chelsea28 Turtleneck – Paired with several pieces on this page, this is a great layering item. I find it significantly sheerer than the majestic ones I love but it was less than half the price. Three color choices. I only one I have tried is the black one.
Gibson Drape Top – I love the print and the drape of this top. It also comes in a short sleeve version. Shown here paired with my Rag & Bone Simone pants and INEZ heels.
I highlighted all the class silk blouses in solid colors in the work wear wardrobe staples post. These are the ones that will be around season after season and here they are again!
BOSS – This is a gorgeous blue with the perfect no-show v-neck. Pairs beautifully with all the suit jackets. This came home with me. You can see it on me in my Dressing Room Diaries.
Lafayette 148 New York Shell – The perfect layering piece that you can actually tuck or not. #RareFind
Vince Blouse – This Vince Blouse makes my list every year. Always an on trend color and the perfect fit to pair with any suit!
Vince Short Sleeve Blouse – A short sleeve Silk blouse is great for seasonal transitions and this is a great color for Fall.
BOSS Shell – The neckline on this one in facinating. This looks great paried with a pencil skirt but was somewhat akward under the jacket.
