It’s that day of the week again … Shoesday … and I’m talking trends. Specifically SHOE trends for Fall. There are a few trends emerging and today I’m showing you the ones I have bought into. #Literally (Bonus … everything I purchased is under $100 -some WAY under). In the affiliate shopping widgets I have included tons of options in each category for you to browse and find one to fit into your closet. You will also find some styling notes to help you figure out how to wear them. I tried to include a range of prices and heel heights in the choices! Enjoy your Shoesday!

Red Shoes
We may as well start at the top. Red Shoes. If you haven’t noticed already these are going to be big for fall. I have been on the lookout for shoes like these ever since I first saw the Gianvito Rossi Plexi. When I saw these in red at Zara, I had to have them! So much cooler than black! I purchased my on sale for $15.99. #MajorScore and they are no longer available on the web site but you could get lucky and find them in a store. Below I’ve linked plenty of good red shoe options both high and low that ARE available online. Red shoes are so big that I’m going to dedicate an entire Shoesday to them (look for that post in the very near future). For styling I would let the shoes shine. Keep the rest of the wardrobe neutrally understated. My favorite combination for Fall is red and camel. Try an all camel outfit with a pop of red accessories. This would also work with navy or black. Feeling daring? Pair the Red Shoes with Pink! #NotForEveryone
Sock Booties
You are going to start seeing more of these come fall. Sock booties are the new twist on the calf booties from last year (which are still good to wear). The twist? They are made of knit so they are stretching and form fitting. The true beauty of these is that the stretchy nature makes them very forgiving for finding a good fit. They pair great with skirts and dresses for the office but they also extend the wear ability of crop flare pants and denim as the cold starts to set it. #ColdAnklesNoMore This style abounds but finding them in a knit version is still challenging. I found them in person at both Target and Zara and I’ve linked a few others here. The last few in the list are pricey but adorable. #EmergingTrend
Dot Pattern
I’ve already highlighted my love for this pattern in The Boden Edit but I had to mention it again because it is really starting to take off. I still want the Boden ones … but I loved the ankle strap, kitten heel and price of these Linea Paolo ones on sale at Nordstrom. Treat these like you would any neutral shoe and pair them with anything. I prefer a kitten heel with pants (personal preference only) but a midi skirt would really show off the lines of this shoe.
Bows
Bows on shoes are everywhere. Big bows, little bows, patent bows, velvet bows. I really think anything goes for Fall. The thing to watch is the walk ability of the shoes – especially if you are going to wear them around the office. Many of the cutest bow shoes I’ve seen have bows so big they look like they would make this simple (and important act) challenging. My Navy Bow Booties are the most expensive item I purchased and they are still under $100. I needed to replace my navy booties after an unfortunate trip to Rochester where they spent too much time in snow an salt and these were the perfect find. I love the bow on the side as well as the darker color (they almost look like black in the picture).
Kitten Heels
Kitten heels are having their moment (again)! Hand claps from everyone who cannot or will not wear sky-high heels. I’m loving all the options available! To keep them more modern and less 70’s librarian opt for fresh colors and patterns (like my Fushcia pick from Zara or the Dot Print from Nordstrom). I ordered some red kitten heel booties that should be here next week as my fresh and modern take!
Leopard Print
I think I’ve talked about leopard print shoes enough on this blog but in case you weren’t reading the last twenty times I mentioned them …. consider these a neutral shoe. Wear them with anything. Mine are from Target (they also pull in the Velvet trend) for the bargain price of $34. I will show you how to style these for both work and play in a post later this week but think mod dresses (the 70’s are new again) for the office and crop denim for the weekend.
White Boots
The trend I’ve not yet bought into … white boots … is everywhere! I really, REALLY want a pair but I can’t seem to marry go-go with Hugo which minimizes their go to work options. I spend my weekends in fields … soccer fields, bike course fields, corn mazes fields… so that knocks off the weekend options. If my husband and I are lucky – we get one date night a month and I’m having a hard time justifying date night only shoes (although it could happen). Thus I’m struggling with the practicality of white boots for my lifestyle. If anyone has any suggestions please send them my way – until then I am just going to drool over some of the options. #WipingHandToMouth
