Work Wear Staples – Best of the Rest (Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale)

It’s getting down to the wire.  I’ve taken one last look at the Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale and pulled out the last few remaining gems.  The focus today was work wear staples.  You know the pieces … not very exciting … but pieces you wear EVERY week. You just never really think about how important they are – until you need one!  Most of these are investment pieces, but with 40% off, the investment is a fraction of what it could be.

This will be my final blog post about the sale but you can bet I will still be posting finds on my Facebook page.  I’m always checking to see if new stuff has been added or prices have dropped.  I also post pictures of items I’ve ordered after they arrive. If you missed my other two sale posts you can find them here and here (although I can’t promise all those items are still in stock).

Silk Blouses

The white silk blouse … the perfect one can be illusive … But when you find the one … it is love at first try on!  When it fits you perfectly and you look fabulous – you will reach for it every time – REPEAT, EVERY TIME – when you need to wear a suit (unless it is at the dry cleaners … #BuyTwo).  There is no greater find than the perfect white (or off-white or blush) silk blouse.  Except maybe that perfect blouse on sale! #DidIMentionBuyTwo

Vince Silk Blouse – I highlighted this one already but that’s because it is one of the best.  Notice that Vince has no ‘Camuto’ behind it.  That’s because it is the LEGIT Vince.  4 color choices.  Or try the buttoned up version.   #purebliss

Classiques Entier – This little number has cuff details that mean it can easily stand alone without the accompanying suit jacket.  I like the flowy look. #pairwiththepinstripeskirt

Vince Shell (under the Blazer) – Not silk but at $41.40 I wouldn’t expect it to be. A lovely shade of pink mimosa which is suprisingly neutral.  How can you not love something with a color named mimosa? It also comes in three other spring hues. See one way to Style a blush Blouse here. Other colors not on sale here.

Vince Camuto Zip Pocket Blazer –  If you are still looking for that perfect black blazer this is a good one. (Petite sizes too).

Emerson Rose Blouse – Okay, to be honest, this one is not on sale but at less than $100 it can easily substitute for some of the higher end pieces.  I like the ladder stitch detail on the neckline.  #Perfection.

The Kooples Silk Top – I have a thing for unexpected zippers.  Such a lovely detail. Just watch the boys around the office … apparently they also have a thing for unexpected zippers.  #NotGoingToMagicallyUnzipBoys #NoMatterHowLongYouStare

Work Wear Skirts

Classiques Entier Pinstripe Skirt – I have this fun little piece. I actually ordered the whole Classiques pinstripe suit along with the Hugo one.  The suit jacket is no longer available but this skirt is unique and classic enough to stand on its own.  Navy pinstripes are all over my Instagram feed … hereherehere… I clearly love the look and there are so many options for pairing … solid, Floral, more stripes, colors, neutrals … #yougettheidea

Emerson Rose Pencil Skirt – I don’t think there is anything more work wear staple than a black penci skirt.  If you don’t have one already you should buy this immediately. #noreallyNOW

Hugo Boss Faux Wrap Skirt – I’ve waxed poetic about this skirt a few times already. Yes, it’s an investment. Yes, it is timeless. There is nothing trendy about this beauty. See pictures here. #classic #trustme

Robert Rodriguez Ruffle Skirt – I’m very rarely a ruffle and poof kind of girl. There are occasions though and done right I can be convinced. This skirt is convincing. The neutral color counters the trend of the ruffle. You have to love this piece though – not for everyone or more importantly every office.  #CorporateRules

Vince Camuto Pleated Skirt – I have a post coming later this week that showcases a beautiful off-white Midi skirt that is now sold out. #sadface  This one is a good alternative. I love pleats but don’t hide your waist. #looklikealady

Black Heels

Raise your hand if you own a black pump! I used to go through a pair every six to nine months.  Then I upped my price point and I have had my current Ted Baker ones for almost two years.  I tried to showcase options from all price points – they are in ascending order left to right. All of these heels would work for even the stuffiest of work places. Second only to a black pencil skirt … a black heel is a work wear must. #sorrynoTed

Sole Society Tamra Pointy Toe – I like the straps that add a little extra. The lower heel makes them practical and walkable.

Sole Society Jenn –  A classic D’Orsay with a lower heel. These are also shown below in beige and come in bright blue and floral.

Nine West Ulyssah –  These just look fun and unique. Also come in off-white.

Marc Fisher LTD Zala Pump – Moving toward the traditional black pump. These are also shown below in blush or they come in blue, camel and berry.

Pour la Victoire Celina – The highest price point but at $164 on sale that is a very good price. Also comes in blush and burgundy.

Not pictured but equally cute (and very affordable) a pair of low heel Mary Jane’s from Clarks.

Beige Heels

The only other pair of shoes you truly need is … a good nude. I failed to get these ones in price point order. No, the Kate Spade ones are not that cheap. #sorry

Sam Edelman Telsa –  Comes in 7 different colors including 3 shades of nude. #diversitywin. It also has an embroidered pair option in black or white.

Kate Spade Licorice Too – This one and the last one are the same shoe. Just two different shades of nude – kind of like me in summer or winter. #sorrynotsorry

Sole Society Jenn – A classic D’Orsay with a lower heel. These were shown above in black but they also come in bright blue and floral.

Marc Fisher LTD Zala Pump – Moving toward the traditional pump. These come in the blush shown here, black above or bright blue, camel or berry.

Kate Spade Licorice Too – This one and the second one are the same shoe. Just two different shades of nude.

Because you have to get all your stuff to and from the office and you should look cute doing so. One is $45, the other $253 – both a bargain in their own way.

Sole Society Jensen Tote or kate spade Cameron Street – I’ll let you figure out which one costs more. #notachallenge
