Lately I have been playing around more with pattern mixing. It’s probably a winter thing. I’m bored with all the items in my closet at I’m starting to play with them more freely. It all started a few weekends back when I put on a plaid shirt and several hours later added a striped sweater to the mix because I was cold. Somehow it worked. The color families were very similar AND it was a Saturday. I feel like casual attire is sometimes more forgiving. It got me thinking though – could I take a similar approach with my work wear? I eased into the idea by pairing a black and white floral blouse with a matching black and white skirt.

The combination worked beautifully … like they were made to go together. Then I saw the latest issue of Instyle and it provided even more inspiration for even bolder pairings.

I went back to the closet to see what other creative combinations I could find.

Bolder Pattern Mixing

I found this gorgeous cowl neck floral blouse (the neckline is to die for) and I paired it with a bold striped skirt.  The combination was amazing and beautiful.  This is an outfit I will repeat frequently.
