It is that time of year when everyone attempts to become a soothsayer – trying to predict the biggest trends for the upcoming year.  Well that, and we all promise to somehow do something better in some way … since resolutions rarely last … I’m talking fashion trends.

Color of the Year

Each year Pantone comes up with the color of the year (as well as their top 10 colors for the season).  The 2017 Color of the Year is “greenery“.  Accoording to Pantone, the bright yellow-green shade symbolizes the “reconnection we seek with nature and all.”  They  also stated that the hue seeks to “revive, restore, and renew”.  I could use some of that so I am going to go buy me some “greenery” today – here’s hoping it works!

Seasonal Color Trends

Pantone also does Seasonal Color Picks.  As we move into spring, pay attention to these 10 colors – you are going to see them again and again!

Style Trends

I combed through countless blogs and style magazines to whittle it down to 5 trends (in no particular order) that seemed to appear again and again.  Three of the five trends are very work appropriate and worthy of investigation and investment.  The last two will require a little more creativity to make wear-to-work-ready.

Stripes

Not the petite dainty kind but bold and powerful.

Artistically Inspired

Think splattered paint and brush strokes along with bold colors.

Mules

The revived ‘it’ shoe is backless and (generally) closed-toed.  It comes in all heights  – flat to heel.

Sneakers

These aren’t your traditional sneakers and they aren’t going to the gym.  Think glitter, satin and other materials and patterns.  This is a hard style to pull off in the office except maybe on a casual Friday.

Another good place to look for casual ‘fancy’ sneakers is Boden.

Athleisure

Supporting the sneakers is athleisure.  This athletic inspired (or as one article phrased it – “easy elegance”) is also a hard trend to pull off in the office – I did find some pieces that would pair appropriately with a pencil skirt and could be ‘dressed up’.  Think cottons and blends but add some structure to them to make them “workable“.

Since I am feeling like I need a little revitalization, restoration and renewal I am going to get a pair of the Mimi Chica Tie Waist Pants in ‘greenery’.  I think they will pair beautifully with neutrals and transition to spring effortlessly.

What trends from 2017 will you embrace?
