Time for another Travel Capsule post. If you’ve been following me for awhile you know this is my favorite way to pack!! If you are new around her you can see this Travel Capsule post for a little bit more explanation on why I pack this way. For this trip I went a little patriotic with some red, white and blue (and a little leopard thrown in for fun). #AlwaysHaveFun My client is Michigan leans toward business casual and we were in proposal writing mode (read long days) so no suit was required but I still wanted to appear professional. Below is everything I packed for 5 Days in Michigan as well as how I styled everything.
In My Suitcase
Per my usual lately, 90% of what I am wearing I’ve had in my closet for years. Some of them are staples so good that you can still currently purchase them (J.Crew Sweater Blazer, Ann Taylor Layering Tank) but for many of the other pieces I listed the brand and style (if you want to go searching) and I also tried to find something similar currently available.
My Michigan Style
I traveled in a dress and sneakers to keep things super comfortable. I opted to switch out the sneakers with white sandals for dinner in the evening.
For the next two days I wore a cami with a sweater blazer. It was blazing hot outside and freezing cold inside so these layers allowed me to appropriately balance the two micro climates.
I had to have a little fun by making the pants leopard and the shoes gold!
I’ve been talking about pants a lot lately so I packed mostly those for this trip. This look was inspired by all the research for the #Shoesday post – What Shoes to Wear With Wide Leg Crops. I just discovered these pants (and coordinating top which I also own) are now at Nordstrom Rack on major sale. #Winning
My original plan for the last day was to re purpose pants. My flight, however, turned into a three hour drive so I opted to go more casual. Enter the casual Friday denim look. Apologies for the horrible-lighting-hotel-selfie. I wish I had brought a colorful or leopard print belt to finish the look off – I opted for a half tuck instead. #NextTime
This isn’t the first time I’ve spent 5 Days in Michigan – the last time it was ALOT colder though!! I did repeat at least one of the items from that trip during this trip though. #HowFun
