WHAT I PURCHASED
The following is looks created from all of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases. I tried to dial it back this year and really only pick pieces that were unique, caught my eye and that I absolutely loved. If you read my earlier post you know I already have a lovely collection of items from previous Nordstrom Anniversary Sales (see 20+ looks with those pieces and outfits created from the current sale here). I didn’t really need suiting this year but I did browse just to make sure I didn’t miss anything (see my suiting picks here). I’m still working on my “Best of” post – you can expect that Thursday and that is one you don’t want to miss!!
My Purchases
As a reminder here is everything I initially purchased …
*Lafayette White Blouse | Ted Baker Skirt | Statement Purse | Orange Casual Sweater
*AllSaints Sweater | Tibi Dress | *Tibi Funnel Top | Frame Blouse
Halogen Turtleneck | Ted Baker Cami | Leopard Tee | *Dot Cami
Here are the accessories I purchased. Yes, I realize the purse is an accessory … too late to change the graphic.
Pave Heart Earrings | Mixed Animal Booties | Tortoise Heart Earrings (Two Colors) | Blondo Booties | Circle Earrings
As I browsed the three stores in my area my initial purchases gained a few friends. I added a white blouse, a pair of pants and another pair of booties.
If you remember my goal was to down select to five so I had some work to to. I piled all my purchases on my bed, added items from previous Anniversary sales and started making looks. This is my law of three on steroids … especially for a few pieces I was on the fence about. #LookParty
Vince Camuto Blouse
If you saw stories then you know I fell in love with this little white blouse (mine is actually the dot version but it also comes in solids). Such a perfect top for DC summer but will layer beautiful for Fall. I really didn’t need to sell myself on this one but to prove it works with a blazer, pencil skirt and the pants I already shared – here you go. #AbsoluteWinner
The blazer is a J.Crew Parke which is included in the sale in four new colors. I paired it with black pants (similar) and Aquatalia pumps. The pencil skirt is from Boden paired with white Jimmy Choo pumps. The pants are Halogen (more looks below) from this year’s sale paired with VINCE slip-ons.
Ted Baker Floral Skirt & Cami
The skirt was love at first sight (it always is with Ted) but I wasn’t sure I could make it multitask. I added the cami on my second trip to the store. You know my soft spot for separates as dresses and these absolutely work in that way. The cami works both tucked and untucked (although I will get it shortened slightly).
Veronica Beard Denim | Inez Heels | Ted Baker Skirt | Linea Paolo Flats
Adding a blazer was not a problem and I simply added a sweater and booties to winterize.
The pointed flats are from Linea Paolo and are not included in the sale but they are reasonably priced and come in a zillion colors. The booties are Marc Fisher and are a part of the sale. Both of mine are the blush color.
And the cami isn’t limited to the skirt or those colors. Here is three more office ready looks with a little red, white and blue to mix it up and denim for the perfect casual look.
All three blazers are Veronica Beard (similar blue, similar red, similar white) and so is the darker denim and red pants I’m clearly addicted to Veronica Beard. The lighter denim is Levi’s from Amazon (currently on sale for Prime Day). The shoes are Inez, Jimmy Choo and Linea Paola (alternative).
I found my exact red blazer in a size 6 here and a size 2 and 4 here.
Tibi Dress
This dress is everything. It’s hard to multitask this one but you can add a turtleneck tights and boots/booties for Winter. Since I was already sweating by this point and hadn’t even gotten to the cashmere I opted not to demonstrate. #TrustMe
I did want to show you it looks equally good with heels or flats. The silver ones are my Inez heels and the flats are Rothy’s.
AllSaints Cashmere Sweater
This sweater was on my list. I live in sweaters like this on the weekends but I can also make them work appropriate. Pants ✅ Skirt ✅ Denim ✅ It also works with leather (or faux) but I couldn’t go there. I was already totally sweating. Note: The sleeves on this one do not allow for a blazer very easily.
Paired with red pants from Zara, Ted Baker skirt and Levi’s from Amazon (currently on sale for Prime Day). All three looks use the Marc Fisher booties.
Note: This is currently sold out and while stock will come and go as people return this is not one I expect Nordstrom to restock. I do, however expect AllSaints to stock this or something very similar in the Fall.
Halogen Pants
I’m not the only one to think these pants are ?? (that’s probably the reason they are currently basically sold out). The tie is removable – helping their versatility. I created looks appropriate for 30 degree weather as well as 90 degree weather. A rare find. And they work with a blazer. #winner
They will come back into stock and I will let you know what that happens. I would check Friday though when the sale opens to the public to see if they added more.
The Winter look is the Halogen turtleneck (and great for layering too) paired with the Blondo booties. The summer look is the Vince Camuto blouse (comes in 8 colors) paired with a VINCE slip-on. The last look is a Nordstrom Signature jacket and Halogen cami.
Dot Cami
I was on the hunt for good layering camis that could also stand on their own. The Ted one above is the absolute winner in this category because it allows for a real bra but this BP one is the bargain priced winner. It sells out every year but it is something Nordstrom always stocks (in several colors). I am wearing it with an old pleated midi from Uniqlo (very similar).
On The Fence
I really loved this Tibi Shell as a way to modernize a Theory one I currently own. When I first tried it though I wasn’t sure. I really played with this one so you get seven looks. #LuckyYou
I tried the top layered and untucked (not an option with the one I own now) and with both straight and skinny pants.
My short sleeve Classics Entier blouse is VERY old but my Rachel Roy pants and Linea Paola shoes are newer. The long sleeve blouse is the Lafayette one I purchased from the sale and those are my Rag & Bone Simone pants (Everlane makes a very similar pant).
I tried the top layered and tucked. This is the only way I wear the one I currently own. It worked equally well with denim, a skirt or wide leg pants.
Black Halogen Turtleneck | Rag & Bone Denim | Blondo Bootie | Joie Stripe turtleneck | Uniqlo pleated maxi (similar) | Aquatalia Pumps | Lafayette Blouse | Zara pants | Jimmy Choo Pumps
And I tried the top alone with a midi skirt and black denim – not really an option with my current one.
Most of the pieces here are unique. The skirt is old Uniqlo (very available on Poshmark though or a very similar one here). The Chanel dupes are from Zara earlier this Spring. The denim is Rag & Bone and the sandals are old Kate Spade.
Black and Leopard Purse
I love the look of this purse. I’m still deciding if I love the size. The boots are an absolute winner though.
My returns
Orange Sweater
I like this sweater. I love the AllSaints one. There was no need for two and I also have a very similar sweater to this in red. It fit TTS and paired great with my faux leather. PS – those are the blondo booties peeking out the bottom.
Frame Blouse
I couldn’t even be bothered to iron this frame blouse. My husband called it fun. I felt a little bit like Jerry in the pirate shirt. (that’s Seinfeld if you are lost). Just not my style. Fit was TTS. The color is gorgeous!
Frame Blouse | Levi’s from Amazon (currently on sale for Prime Day).
Using some creative counting (I counted the Ted Cami & Skirt as one piece) I’m at 5. This doesn’t include the two pieces I’m on the fence about or the three layering pieces from my original list. And it definitely doesn’t include shoes and accessories. #NumberBusted
