Friday Favorites - January 18, 2019

Somehow I missed posting Friday Favorites last week … I guess I was in full snow preparation mode probably standing in long lines at the grocery store and completely forgot! So to make up for it, this week I’m giving you double loves!! I wish I could also double-down on the weekend sales but other than yesterday’s J.Crew surprise of 70% off sale items – I’m not seeing anything crazy good! There are lots of 70% off options (Saks and Neiman Marcus) where you could score a great deal but sizes are starting to dwindle! #UseTheFilter

Latest Loves

This first one is not a new love for me but given that the world has gone Marie Kondo mad I thought it was worth discussing. I first posted about her TWO years ago (read that post here) after I read her book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. It motivated me to begin the arduous process of cleaning out my closet. This then prompted the cleaning out of the attic, the bike closet, the laundry room … you get the idea. Two years later we are still cleaning and it’s been amazing. #SparkJoy

Why has it taken two years? Well, I have a job … and a life …. but more importantly …. while tossing everything in a bag and removing it from your house is cleansing for you … it isn’t necessarily for the environment. We’ve been trying to declutter our house responsibly. This has meant eBay, Facebook marketplace, free-cycling and several other creative removal methods. This takes time and I only have so much of it (I refer back to the job and life comment)! It has been VERY worth it though. I am currently working on a closet reveal post that should publish in February! #NightAndDay

Blog Update

With one little teaser about my closet reveal mentioned, I wanted to give you a preview of some of the other content coming to the blog in January and February. There will be more Capsule Wardrobe posts showing how to multitask pieces already in your closet (I have cotton button down on the docket but if you have a piece you want styled drop me a comment or send me a DM on social). I am also lining up a fun collaboration for even more Capsule Wardrobe inspiration – more on that soon!

Keeping the Capsule Wardrobe thread going will be more Travel Capsule posts (San Francisco is already scheduled) and I’m hoping to get a warm weather trip on the calendar for late January or early February!

I know you guys love your reviews and there are a few reviews to look forward to (Rothy’s Sneakers and MM.LaFluer to name two). There are also some VERY practical posts: What to Keep in a Fashion Emergency Kit and How to Combat Static Cling. #SoMuchContent

Latest Loves (More)

Okay, back to more latest loves! Last week I broke my tripod. I literally snapped the thing in two. It was a $20 Amazon purchase that survived two years longer than it probably should have so I wasn’t surprised. This left me searching for a replacement (and taking lots of selfies). I turned to a Facebook photography group to find a more durable replacement that wouldn’t break the bank and was recommended this Zecti one. I’ve only used it twice so far … but it is far superior to the one I broke. If you are in the market for an upgraded tripod, I highly recommend this as a good option. #NoMoreSelfies
