This one outfit, eight shoes post is a twist on the traditional one piece, multiple looks post. I dreamed this post up while sitting at gymnastics for the boys one Saturday morning. It was originally created based around what I was wearing that day (casual cargo pants) but I liked this exercise so much that I decided to apply the same concept to work wear.
The point of the exercise is to demonstrate the power shoes have to totally change the look and feel of an outfit. I didn’t change my top or pants for any of the looks … the only thing I changed was my shoes! In real life I would likely mix up my jacket choice, jewelry, purse and hairstyle too! #OnlySoManyHours
Shoes are such a powerful tool to mix up your wardrobe and make your closet seem WAY bigger! They also allow you to dress for you moment! Please let me know which look is your favorite!
One Outfit, Eight Shoes
My uniform of choice for this exercise was a DVF stripe silk blouse purchased during the memorial day sales and my black MM.Lafleur Oshima pants. I wanted a shirt with some interest rather than a solid color to really highlight how this work!!
Look 1
This is my ‘it’s Monday and I don’t want to go to work much less put on work clothes’ look. Black Heels (or flats) are easy, they match everything and you always look put together. For the office I would add my royal blue blazer and Tumi tote (Monday’s are no day to over-think things)!
Look 2
Three words …
Trendy. Summer. Unexpected.
For the office add a white blazer too! I stalked these Jimmy Choo pumps all Spring until they finally went on sale. #Success
Look 3
You know I love my leopard pumps. These are my ‘I will follow your dress code rules but I’m going to do it my way’ heels. As demonstrated, flats and loafers work too. For the office I would add my camel colored blazer.
Look 4
So funny story … these were the shoes I was wearing … and I was so focused on photographing all the alternatives that I completely forgot to take a picture with the shoes I was wearing. You might notice my ear piece is a few of the pictures. I was also on a conference call. Sometimes multi-tasking doesn’t work out in my favor! Rather than hold up the post because I didn’t have this picture I opted to post anyway! I will get the picture taken soon though!! #RealLife
These silver metallic heels from Inez are my ‘I will not be a wall-flower statement shoes’. Great for the days you need a pick me up or have an important presentation. This also work for an upgrade to happy hour or dinner! If you need a jacket, opt for classic black so the shoes shine!
Look 5
Rothy’s are usually my choice for travel days but I’ve also been known to wear them for commuting and long conference days. For this look I would add a cardigan and a contrasting tote! (See my Rothy’s review here which includes a link to save $20).
Look 6
If your dress code allows … a cool neutral sandal is perfect for those days it’s just too hot for anything else. #LessIsMore for this look, no jacket required … just add a statement necklace!
Look 7
If leopard is too bold of an animal choice, try snake instead and choose a practical, walk able wedge or block heel.
Look 8
Part pump, part bootie – these give just enough edge without being over the top. You can also opt for a peep toe version. To go over the top and accommodate cold offices, add a moto jacket.
