I’ve been working on a Spring roundup for awhile.  (Since about March 21st awhile)  I’ve been a little unmotivated by the weather and a lot busy at work.  Not a good combination for blogging productivity – especially about Spring Trends (I mean it was forty degrees today).  But this week I am making it happen!  Each day I will feature a different Spring trend with several pieces to choose from as well as suggestions for ways to style it for the office. For the first post, I am talking Gingham for the office.  Gingham was a huge trend last Spring and it’s still going strong this year. While gingham is a quintessential holiday print (it screams picnics and fireworks) it can also work for the 9 – 5. The key is separate and subtle. The office is not the place for the full print dress.  You also need to pick the right tailoring.  Get those two things right and you can absolutely add a little holiday to your work day.  #TrustMe

I turned to Ann Taylor for my inspiration because you can get trendy and work place friendly all at a reasonable price.  Bonus …. all these pieces are currently 50% off. #EvenMoreReasonable

Gingham for the Office

Let’s start with a classic. The pencil skirt. Pair this with a solid top, classic pumps and you are good to go. If you are feeling bold pick a solid color (red, blue, green, etc) otherwise opt for easy black or white. A classic white button down would work great for more conservative office environments.

Continuing the highly tailored trend I’m drawn to this Moto Style jacket.  I would pair this with either a pencil skirt or ankle pants.  This is a statement piece so keep the other colors neutral (think black, white or khaki).  This is also perfect for those over air conditioned office spaces.

For another bold color statement that isn’t such a statement, try this sweater.  Wear it under a white or navy jacket for just a hint of bold.

Too much color and print for you?  Opt for Gingham print accessories instead.

Let’s start with my favorite … shoes.  It seriously doesn’t get any cuter than these kitten heel sling backs.  I would pair these with a midi skirt and simple silk blouse.  These remind me of something I would find at Boden.  #Adorable #InMyCart

For traditional and trend combined into one try these block heel pumps in a classic black and white gingham pattern.   These are just screaming for a black sheath dress.  Simple.  Perfect.

If sandals are appropriate for your workplace then these are an absolute must.  So utterly adorable!  I would opt for ankle pants and a cropped blazer.  All the focus should be on the shoes!

Still to much?  Pair this belt (currently only $20) with a sheath dress and done!  #TouchOfGingham
