It’s my favorite workday … Tuesday … better known as Shoesday! A few weeks back I asked for reader requests on stores you would like to see Shoesday picks from and I had several people ask for a Rothy’s Review. Well to those that made this request – today is your lucky day!
For others … what is Rothy’s you say? Well clearly your Social Media feed isn’t as filled with their advertisements as mine is …
“After many years living and style watching in San Francisco, and seeing the flip-flop and sneaker epidemic reach critical proportions, we arrived at the idea of Rothy’s. We wanted to create an alternative, versatile shoe: one with the ease of a sneaker but with the polish of a feminine flat. And do it with low-waste, low-impact materials, hand-assembled for high quality and durability.” (Rothys.com)
Their shoes are meant to look like you are going to the office but feel like you are going to yoga. And let me tell you they fit the bill. I put them on on a Monday morning after running 17+ miles over the weekend … magic. Let’s just say I am fully on board with feeling like I’m going to yoga and not work! #RagnarRunningProblems
Picking My Rothy’s
After browsing their website for a few minutes I will admit to being overwhelmed by choice. Overwhelmed in a good way though …. so many lovely options. #MustChooseOnlyOne They have so many good choices though. Since I purchased mine, they have added even more great color choices that I may have to add to my collection. #Love
The first decision to make is pointed or round toe (or loafer or sneaker)! When I first purchased these was only the two choices and I was decidedly in the pointed toe camp. I really only liked my toes rounded if they are also embellished (I blame Tory Burch for this). Plus, pointed toes elongate your legs and who doesn’t want that? Making this choice eliminates half of the options but then you still have to choose a color and/or print. I decided to go very neutral with black and white but still have some fun with a python print! #SnakeSkinIsAlwaysAWin (I have now also tried the rounded toe version and the loafers and you can see my round review here and my loafer review here). #AllWinners
My Rothy’s Review (Get on My Feet)
Now we get to the good stuff. My Rothy’s review. My shoes arrived lighting quick in a perfectly sized box (also sustainable). I promptly ripped it open and put them on my feet. My first thought was literally …Wow! They felt great. I then shoved them back in their box to go run with the girls for two days. When I returned, I spent Sunday trying not to wear shoes and grimacing every time I had to walk down stairs or sit down. #HelloQuadMuscles #AndCalves #Ouch
“There’s a comfort that comes from not having shoes on at all. We’re proud to say that we (finally) figured out how recycled plastic water bottles can be transformed into a comfortable knitted shoe that fits like a glove and is soft like a sock.” (Rothys.com)
On Monday, after my legs and feet took a serious beating over the weekend with all my running, I decided comfortable flats was the only way to go. Out of the box came the Rothy’s for their work debut! #spotlightonmyfeet
The shoes really do live up to their hype. They are extremely comfortable. I found they fit true to size but I’ve since added a few more to my collection and lately have felt more comfortable in points a half size up (full if you are a wide foot). The good news is they offer free exchanges and returns so there is little risk if you get it wrong. #CustomerServiceIsKing
After a long day traipsing all over the metro area you could hardly tell I had worn them. Should you get them dirty, simply wipe up to clean – you can also toss them in the washing machine. They wash beautifully with no shrinking or size modifications (just don’ t dry them). With this in mind though, I think I just found my go-to travel shoe! #TravelStyle
