I’ve been working on a Spring roundup for awhile (I am so over winter and way too excited for Spring). To celebrate the arrival, everyday this week, I will feature a different Spring collection with several pieces to choose from as well as suggestions for ways to style everything. For the first post, I am talking Spring Dresses. I love dresses. You will frequently find me in a dress because they are so easy. I mean seriously, one item of clothing and you are done. Walk out the door done. If necessary, you can throw on a suit jacket or blazer to make them slightly more formal (I included some options for those too). Dresses also travel beautifully. No ironing required upon arrival. Enjoy the dress selections in this post and then come back the rest of this week for spring picks from pencil skirts to ankle pants.
Spring Dress Selection Criteria
For my selection criteria they had to be dresses I either already own or would buy. I tried to include a mix of different styles and looks including some patterns and some solids. I made sure all the sizes were available and that at least a few of them included petite sizing. My last criteria was they had to be under $100. (Nordstrom has currently put some of them on sale making them an even better bargain!) I had a very hard time whittling the selection (I was trying to get to 5 but managed 7). There are so many gorgeous spring dresses making their arrival – now if only spring would do the same!

My Top Spring Dress Picks (Solids)
Scalloped Crepe Sheath Dress (also in Black) – The scallop details are just too much to resist. This is a very classic styled sheath that will work well in the office and also for formal evening weddings. The Lapis Blue is a big color trend for spring (see more about that here) and will work well with many skin tones. I would pair both the blue and black dresses with a white jacket.
FELICITY & COCO Seamed Pencil Dress (5 colors) – I included the back picture so you could see the full length zipper on the back – this amazing detail means you look as good going as you do coming. I have this dress in purple (see my Instagram post today of me in my dress). This dress is not for shrinking violets. Don’t get me wrong – it’s very comfortable and wearable but it is meant to show of your every curve. And I can agree with the 380+ (greater than 4 stars) reviews to size up. I am normally a 4 or 6 which puts me at either a small or medium. I ordered the medium and I fill every bit of it.
Eliza J Ponte Fit and Flare (4 colors) and Eliza J Pintucked Waist Seamed Ponte Knit Fit & Flare Dress (3 colors) – These two dresses are very similar (one has a V-neck) – between the two styles they come it at least 7 colors. This style is very forgiving for anyone with hips! The fabric is also very forgiving. I particularly love the waist pintucking. I’m a sucker for details (see above mention of scallops and zippers as further evidence that I appreciate the details).
My Top Spring Dress Picks (Patterns)
Halogen Pleated Fit and Flare Dress (3 patterns) – I have two of these dresses in different patterns. They pair great with jackets and the pleats just make them flirty and fun. They can easily dress up or down making them not only office appropriate – but brunch, church and wedding worthy too. I would wear all 3 patterns with a blush colored jacket.
Maggy London Leaf Wrap Dress (also available in sky blue and navy in limited sizes) – Wrap dresses are one of the most versatile dress styles because they work for such a variety of body types. I am not well endowed but they work – they also work if you have something there. They are forgiving of pooches and hips and all those other things we would like to forget we have. This will be wearable all through the summer months as well. I have two of this style of dress and wear them frequently to the office (with and without a jacket).
ECI Scuba Sheath Dress – This one is even more gorgeous in person. The ornate feel and the mix of floral patterns is perfect. This spring I will wear it with a blush jacket but in the fall I’ll transition to a black jacket. This really is a three season dress that will work for so many varied occasions. Size down. I am normally a 4 or 6. I was swimming in the 4.
Jackets and Blazers (If required)
Halogen Open Front Jacket (5 colors)
